Derek Jarman was not only a boundary pushing filmmaker, but he led a profoundly creative life that extended to the care of his home and his garden. Modern Nature has become a beacon for queer readers beyond admirers of Jarman's work for its stunning, intimate account of living and dying of AIDS, whilst continuing to care for human and non-human connections all around him.
