What it goes on to say is that this is the gayest book in the Stein Canon, starting with the title story of homo-romance and love triangles involving Matisse, Picasso, and herself, which is the tamest, both in theme and style of the collection. For the editor, the "other two shorter stories" included in this book are the main event: "A long gay book" and "Many many women". If it wasn't obvious, lesbianism is a big theme. Exactly our cup of tea.
