Sylvia Plath

So much of Plath's reputation revolves around the circumstances of her death, and in general, around her melancholic disposition. Beyond the circumstances of her life, what shines through is a courageous and emotionally raw poetic voice, completely unmatchable, that continues to make us gasp, and flinch, and squeeze books into our chest.
