Pearl S. Buck

Buck's life was culturally and ideologically diverse. She was the daughter of missionaries in China, and eventually became a missionary herself. Her unique vision of the world and her ability to depict it in writing gained her both the Pulitzer and the Nobel Prize. She used her notoriety to push for causes she believed in and advocate for marginalised communities, and specially children from ethnically diverse backgrounds.
