Chinua Achebe

Widely recognised as the most important African writer, Achebe revolutionised English language fiction by integrating traditional tales and plot structures of Nigerian oral traditions. Refusing to be put in a box of anthropological fiction, Achebe continued to demonstrate his mastery of the craft, building upon his own work to formally and narratively experiment with every new endeavour.
